Now You Know
So they basically acknowledge taxation makes your living conditions worse?
How nice of them to steal a little bit less of their money in the spirit of Christmas.
You know, as we’re supposed to have Christmas live in our hearts all year round…shouldn’t the tax cut be all year round as well?
Why not just get rid of taxes altogether? That would be lovely.
Um because taxes pay for shit that you use like roads, public schools and countless other things that are important. Money doesn’t grow on trees taxes are for a reason.
If that was an actual argument, try again. If you were being sarcastic, that was a good one!
Prior to the passage of the Sixteenth Amendment, there was no income tax. Roads were built and education was funded via import tariffs (which I also don’t agree with). The federal government’s involvement in both education and local needs have expanded the bureaucracy dangerously, to the point where any attempt at anything is strangled in red tape.
Education should be privately funded, just like everything else.
Money doesn’t grow on trees, you’re quite right. But the government hasn’t the right to strip your earnings from you. Taking something of someone else’s without their consent is theft.
So, again, if you were serious, bless your little heart. I’ll give you another pass to try again!
Ok so let me get this straight, you expect all schools to be funded privately despite that your country is broke as fuck and the only people who can afford to own private schools are generally religious groups, you don’t agree with taxing imported goods either so where exactly is this money coming from to fund things like roads and up keeping public parks ect? I agree your government has gotten to big for its boots and is completely bloated you’re not wrong there but I’m interested to then hear what your solution to these issues are and what you think having no tax would do? You also get tax back at the end of the financial year so it’s not like they take everything you have and you never see a cent again.
The government should sell the land to American buyers, and the buyers maintain the land. This goes for parks and such. I also know that many groups (like ROTC and charity organizations) clean up and maintain areas like parks and streets, so there’s that. Even if those organizations don’t, the buyers will do so, and will hire people to help. This improves the economy by employing more people, and enabling employers to pay their employees more because the IRS isn’t bending them over and giving it to them.
You don’t get much back. For instance, I paid over eight grand in taxes last year, right? I got back less than a thousand. That money is being stolen from me to fund things and organizations (like Planned Parenthood and welfare) that I do not support, that I do not consent for, therefore it is being stolen.
As for schools, the government has no right to manage education. The quality of public education is so low that truly, American public school students are basically borderline retarded. How is this money being used wisely? We were once the cream of the crop, and now, we’re a joke. If you pull the government and therefore taxpayer funding out of education, that helps quite a bit.
As for paying for education, consider this. If taxes are eliminated, you don’t pay them anymore. You keep the money you make, and when it comes time to send Junior to school, you pay an annual fee (say, a thousand bucks). This may sound like a lot, but if you consider that you were paying several thousand prior to this, it’s truly not. Education is wonderful, but teachers need incentive to work their asses off and honestly and truly teach their pupils. With unions and the government in the way, it muddles up their priorities and makes everything a bureaucratic, money-driven mess.
What rocks is that when you don’t have the IRS shafting you in the ass, you get to keep more of your earnings, which you then invest in the economy, fueling the growth of employment and technological advancements. This will help our nation by expanding growth, and hopefully exports, if we can finagle it.
You make really good points I wasn’t trying to be a smartarse asking you by the way I genuinely wanted to know your ideas and they make sense.
I had no idea planned parenthood was funded by taxes that would totally piss me off too since I’m no supporter of any group like them.
There was an American woman I followed recently who was getting like $11,000 back and I was shocked because in Australia we don’t get nearly that much back (although we have universal health care) the average worker pays about $8000 in tax and receives maybe $2700 back but considering we have universal health care it’s a trade off but I know in America you don’t have that so there really isn’t a reason so much is taken from you if it’s not funding what it should be.
Our education systems are pretty much the same, government funded with no real boosts into the system,we have something like your colleges,I think our equivalent is what we call university,we also have what we call tafe which is less expensive type of schooling but still rather pricey depending on the course, our universities are are huge cost at around $10,000-$20,00 and yet so many people come out and cannot find work.
I like the idea about private groups owning parks however I would worry about how they would use the parks for their own purposes, just say planned parenthood decided to buy a park ( I don’t know why they would but bare with me) they could cut off parks whenever they liked to host their own events and use it for their own agendas, that would be my only concern with private groups owning them. I frankly wish more people would volunteer to help with things like that, public responsibility seems to be pretty lost these days.
Well then I apologize if I seemed curt, as my first impression of your stance was one of belligerence. If that’s not the case, I’d be pleased to discuss this with you politely. :)
Yeah, American tax dollars go to all kinds of crap. There’s been a scandal this week about farm subsidies going to special interest groups or organizations, like the Nation of Islam, which is a violation of the First Amendment, as it promotes favor of a specific religion. The First Amendment’s religious clause is to be seen as one that takes a neutral stance, but this leans towards establishing a formal preference for a specific religion, using taxpayer money nonetheless.
Yeah, we don’t have an NHS or an NIH, and to be frank, while our spending is indeed above that of other nations, I would prefer not to have to pay for others’ healthcare. If you can’t afford it at the time, that’s fine, but you need to pay for it over time. It’s unfair to burden others with your payments, and as I see it, the trade-offs of socialized healthcare aren’t a little thing you can “meh” away. Whether it’s longer wait times for socialized care, higher prices for the young and the healthy to compensate for the old and the infirm, or whatever else, it’s not right by any means.
The money going into Social Security and unemployment should be private funds paid for by each individual employee, not a pool that the government controls.
Charity organizations are more than willing to help out and pay for the healthcare and nourishment assistance of others. I personally am more than happy to help out with time, money, or substance donations, and I know many others like me. This is a better, healthier way to take care of one’s countrymen.
For our higher education, a lot of federal scholarships and grants are out there, but the issue is that they have to meet diversity quotas, which disqualifies the most qualified student from getting accepted, if they don’t fit. It’s affirmative action (a law passed that establishes those types of quotas) bullshit that’s inherently racist in that it basically states that “minorities” aren’t able to get jobs or scholarships on their own, so they have to be treated like inferiors.
The benefit to privately-owned parks and such is that instead of tax dollars funding them in addition to access fees (like the Grand Canyon National Park or Yellow Stone), you only pay once, and you know your money will actually go to use. If Planned Parenthood wants to buy a park and use it for their rallies, that’s all on them. A church organization can buy another park and host pro-life rallies there, and life is all good.
You see what I mean? An overbearing federal government is completely against what this nation’s founders intended, and should not exist. We should have the bare minimum of government, if any at all, and none of it should be funded by our hard-earned, and then stolen, money.
